Schenectady County Composting and Resident Recycling Facility

The Compost and Resident Recycling Facility will be OPEN beginning April 1, 2020 from 8 am to 3 pm Monday through Saturday. 

Permits will be sold.

All products will be available to purchase.

Audio & Visual Electronic Recycling accepted

"Bulk" furniture, mattress and box springs are no longer accepted.

Freon appliances (with fee) and large household appliances and other metals (no fee) accepted.

Please adhere to the SOCIAL-DISTANCING practice when using the facility.

2020 Tree & Shrub Sale is cancelled for the year.


The Schenectady County Composting and Resident Recycling Facility is located at the Schenectady County farm in Glenville and is operated by the Schenectady County Soil and Water Conservation District.

The facility accepts yard waste, residential recycling (including most electronic equipment), and offers compost, topsoil, and natural and colored woodchip mulch for sale to the public.

The facility is open 8:00AM - 3:00PM, Monday through Saturday from April through December and Friday & Saturday only from January through March.

A Facility Permit is required to utilize the facility for all services, including the Schenectady County Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Program.

Directions to the Composting and Resident Recycling Facility

From Schenectady:

From Erie Blvd. heading north, cross Freemans Bridge. Take Right on Maple Ave at the Stewarts Shop. Continue straight through traffic circle at Glenridge Rd staying on Maple Ave heading north. Maple Ave merges with Hetcheltown Rd in about .3 miles. The Composting & Resident Recycling Facility is immediately on your right.

 

From Niskayuna:

Heading North on Balltown Rd [Rt. 146], after crossing the bridge over the Mohawk, in a little over a mile, take a left at the light at Glenrdige Rd [146 turns right toward Clifton Park]. At the traffic circle take your first right, heading north on Maple Ave. Maple Ave. merges with Hetcheletown Rd in about .3 miles. The Composting & Resident Recycling Facility is immediately on your right.

 

From Scotia:

From Route 50 heading north, take a right at the traffic light onto Glenridge Rd after passing the Target. At the traffic circle go ¾ way around to end up on Maple Ave heading north. Maple Ave merges with Hetcheletown Rd in about .3 miles. The Composting & Resident Recycling Facility is immediately on your right.
