Poll Workers

The Schenectady County Board of Elections employs hundreds of poll workers on Election Day.  Application Here! 

Poll workers are responsible for performing a variety of tasks including: signing in voters, directing voters to their correct polling place, assisting voters that may need help voting and documenting information on appropriate forms. Bilingual individuals, speaking fluent English and Spanish, are also needed and encouraged to apply. 

In order to serve as a poll worker you must be a registered voter, resident of Schenectady County and attend a two to three hour training session.  Training sessions are scheduled at various times over the summer and fall.  You can select the time that is most convenient for you.  Day and night sessions are available.
You will be paid:

  • $35 for training
  • $210 for serving as a poll worker on an Election or Primary Day (Hours are 5am-9:30pm)
  • $100-$130 for serving as a poll worker for Early Voting Day (hours vary)
