Registration Now Open for Annual Schenectady County Pedal-Paddle-Run Triathalon
Schenectady County will be kicking off the 2020 event season at the annual Pedal-Paddle-Run, scheduled to take place at Aqueduct Park in the Town of Niskayuna on Saturday, May 9 at 8 am. This is the first of many County events to be announced for the upcoming spring/summer season, including the addition of a brand new event to be unveiled in the coming weeks.
Special events, including the Pedal-Paddle-Run, offer residents and visitors unique opportunities to experience Schenectady County’s recreational areas.
“The Pedal-Paddle-Run is a fun, family-friendly event that brings people from all over the Northeast to Schenectady County,” said County Legislator Cathy Gatta, Chair of the Committee on Tourism & Special Events. “The County has so many great outdoor spaces to enjoy, and special events that showcase some of the best things our area has to offer.”
The “Not Your Typical Triathlon” Pedal-Paddle-Run is a timed event that includes approximately 7 miles of biking, approximately 2 miles of kayaking/canoeing and a 5k run. Participants may compete as individuals or as part of a relay team.
To make the race more accessible, Schenectady County partners with local businesses to offer rental kayaks during the registration process on a first-come, first-served basis. More race information, including a list of local businesses who rent kayaks, course maps, rules and fees, and a link to register online are available at www.schenectadycounty.com/ppr.
