Schenectady County is proud to announce the First Annual Funk n’ Jazz Music Festival will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 1pm until 8pm in the new Gateway Plaza Park located on the corner of State Street and Washington Avenue in Schenectady.
“Schenectady County invites you to come downtown and get funky at our inaugural Funk and Jazz Music Festival,” said Cathy Gatta, Chair of the Legislature’s Committee on Tourism, Arts and Special Events. “You and your friends can get up and dance to regional and local jazz artists, performing everything from traditional to fusion to jazz funk.”
Regional funk and jazz acts will perform on the WEQX Main Stage including Michael Benedict Jazz Vibes, Bryan Brundige and his Piggly Wigglies, Hanzolo, and our headliner Jocamo. Local jazz combos from area colleges and high schools will perform on our Second Stage. This FREE music festival begins at 1pm and includes food, drink and craft vendors.
This is a rain or shine event. In the event of severe weather music performances will moved to Frogg Alley one block from Gateway Plaza Park. Updates will be posted on the Schenectady County website and Facebook page and tweeted to all of our followers. Parking will be available at SUNY Schenectady and other area surface parking lots. Please follow posted signs.
The festival is presented by the Times Union and 102.7 WEQX with additional partners DSIC, Frog Alley Brewing Company, and Electric City Barn and C.R.E.A.T.E. Studios.
