Applications Available for the 2020-2021 Schenectady County Initiative Arts & Tourism Grant Program
The Schenectady County Legislature announced the application period for the 2020-2021 County Initiative Program (CIP) is now open.
The County dedicated $60,000 of hotel/motel occupancy funds in the 2020 budget to support local organizations’ activities in historic preservation; the performing, visual and literary arts; or programs promoting County tourism. Projects supported by the grant benefit residents and visitors, making Schenectady County an even better place to live, work, raise a family and visit.
“Events and the arts are such an important part of what makes our communities great places to live and visit,” said Legislator Cathy Gatta, Chair of the Tourism, Arts & Special Events Committee. “CIP grants are a great way for the County to support these important projects that benefit residents and grow tourism.”
A record 39 community organizations across the County were awarded a total of $60,000 in CIP funding in 2019. Past events that have received funding include large scale events such as the Freedom Park Concert Series, the Gazette Holiday Parade, Glenville Oktoberfest and the Little Italy Street Festival, as well as smaller community events such as the Kids Ice Fishing Derby at Mariaville Lake and the Mohawk/Hudson Bike-Hike Trail “Color the Canal.”
