Accepting Nominations for 2020 Karen B. Johnson Schenectady County Older New Yorker of the Year Award
The Schenectady County Legislature announced a call for nominations for the 2020 Hon. Karen B. Johnson Schenectady County Older New Yorker of the Year awards, which are sponsored by the Schenectady County Department of Senior and Long Term Care Services.
The awards were created to recognize older adults in the community who have offered their time and experience to worthwhile projects or causes, either through professional or volunteer efforts. This year the Senior and Long Term Care Services Advisory Council voted to rename the award after Karen B. Johnson at their September meeting. She previously served on the Council and was the liaison between the Department of Senior and Long Term Care Services and the County Legislature.
“These awards are a great opportunity to recognize people in our community that go above and beyond, just like Mayor Karen Johnson did,” said Schenectady County Legislator Michelle Ostrelich, Chair of the Committee on Health and Human Services. “We encourage residents to nominate a senior they know who devotes their time and effort to helping others.”
Residents may nominate any person 60 years of age or older who resides in Schenectady County and has given their time and energy to organizations or projects that enhance the life of others.
Nominations may be submitted by email to Claudia.Battaglia@SchenectadyCounty.com; by fax at 518.382.0194 Attn: Claudia Battaglia; by mail or in person to Schenectady County Department of Senior & Long Term Care Services, 107 Nott Terrace Suite 305, Schenectady, NY 12308 by Friday, January 24, 2020.
