3.16.2020 Statement from Schenectady County: County Workforce
Schenectady County preforms many critical functions, which we are unable to simply stop providing, such as public health operations, emergency dispatch, child protective services, nursing home operations, sheriff’s road patrol, jail operations and more. There are also mandated functions we are obligated to provide until the State says otherwise.
In order to achieve the overall goal of social distancing, the County has taken steps to scale back non-essential functions, and work towards flexing time to night and weekend shifts, to decrease workplace density. The County will continue to adjust employee workflow as time goes on, and as new guidance is put out by the State.
Residents who have business with a County department should call that department before visiting. The department will evaluate whether an in-person visit is required at that time, or whether there is an alternate solution.
