Schenectady County Announces Return of Family Movie Nights

Schenectady County is proud to announce the return of Schenectady County Family Movie Nights.  These FREE family entertainment events will be brought to communities around Schenectady County Friday nights this summer.  The fun starts each night at 7:00pm with entertainment and activities by Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady, free ice cream from Stewarts Shops, followed by outdoor screenings of Illumination Studio’s SING.

“Schenectady County is proud to host another year of Family Movie Nights,” said Anthony Jasenski, Chair of the County Legislature.  “I encourage all of our residents to grab your lawn chairs and blankets and bring your family and friends to this fun-filled night of entertainment.”

The series kicks off on Friday, July 21 at Central Park’s Music Haven in the City of Schenectady followed by Friday, July 28 at Esposito Park in Rotterdam; Friday, August 4 at Princetown Town Hall; Friday, August 11 at Niskayuna Town Hall; Friday, August 18 at Shafer Memorial Park in Duanesburg; Thursday, August 24 at Vale Park, City of Schenectady; and Friday, August 25 at Freedom Park in Scotia.

“One of the main goals of the County Legislature is to make Schenectady County a great place to live, work and raise a family.  This is why we’re so excited to bring each of our municipalities Family Movie Nights, a great family-friendly free event for our residents,” said Legislator Cathy Gatta, Chair of the Committee on Tourism, Arts, and Special Events. 

Family Movie Nights will feature pre-movie entertainment by Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady and FREE ice cream from our friends at Stewart’s Shops.  The event is sponsored by the Times Union, Price Chopper and Market 32, B95.5, Lia Auto Group, Albany Med EmUrgentCare, and Metro PCS.

In the event of rain, notice will be posted on the Schenectady County website and Facebook page and tweeted to all of our followers.  Rain dates vary by each location.
