Building a stronger business climate has been a top priority for Schenectady County and one of the County’s greatest successes. In fact, Schenectady County is the only County in New York State that dedicates half of one percent of its sales tax towards economic development.  Millions of dollars in Schenectady County generated sales tax has been directed to the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority for ongoing investment in the development of our local communities.  By creating a successful, unified economic development strategy, we have benefited from nearly $1 Billion in new investment and the creation of more than 6,000 jobs.

Educated Workforce

Schenectady County and the Capital Region of New York is also home to some of the finest educational institutions in the country, like Schenectady County Community College,  Union College, and Clarkson University, producing a highly skilled and trained work force.
