A Message from Dr. David Pratt, Commissioner of Public Health

Dear Schenectady County Residents,

On August 17^th I began work as the Schenectady County Commissioner of Public Health Services. I am delighted to be able to serve the people of the county. I sincerely appreciate the confidence that the County Manager and the Legislature has shown in me.

I am a medical doctor with experience in clinical medicine, occupational health, public health and preventive medicine. In addition to my medical degree I have a master’s degree in public health. For the past 12 years I was the Global Medical Director for GE Energy.

My first priority is making sure we are fully prepared for the possible return of the novel H1N1 influenza. As I work on that effort I am enjoying meeting health professionals and citizens who are our partners in limiting the impact of the flu.

The mission of public health is to work with the community to continuously improve the health and wellbeing of all our citizens. I will do my best to carry on this mission.
