Welcome Message from the Department Manager
Welcome to the internet home of the Schenectady County Department of Senior and Long Term Care Services. The mission of the Department is to promote the long term health and well being of Schenectady County residents and assure that they receive the necessary community based services that they are entitled to in order to remain safely in the community.
Some of the many services we offer to the Schenectady community include: caregiver support; casework; community nursing; long term care; nutrition services; and, senior recreational services. You will find more information on our services throughout this web site. We provide these services without regard to race, color, sex, religion, national origin, marital status and/or handicapping conditions.
Our Senior and Long Term Care Services incorporate the programs and services of a traditional Office for the Aging as well as Long Term Care Services. The Department is supported by an Advisory Board of community volunteers who are elected to represent their regions of the County and who bring unique expertise to the senior population. Additionally, the Department leads a Long Term Care Roundtable of community leaders of CEO/Executive Directors from select county departments, and aging and disability organizations. The Roundtable is a forum for community information sharing, dialogue and assessment and planning for aging and long-term care needs for Schenectady’s older and disabled people. The Roundtable generally meets quarterly.
Thanks again for visiting our web site. Please know that the staff of the Department is ready and eager to help you and your loved ones. Please feel free to stop by any time, either “on-line”, in person at 107 Nott Terrace, Suite 202, Schenectady, NY or by calling us at (518) 382-8481.
Laurie Bacheldor, Manager
