Schenectady County Recognizes Older Residents Accomplishments NEW 5/2013On Friday, May 17, 2013, Schenectady County held a special recognition event to celebrate the accomplishments of our older residents. Nominees were recognized for generously giving his or her time and energy to organizations or projects that have enhanced the lives of others.
Senior Citizen of the Year for 2013: Mr. Stanley Gordon
Senior Citizen with an Outstanding Contribution for 2013: Mr. Richard McMahan
Lifetime Achievement Award for 2013: Mrs. Mary DeGeorgia
Nominees included Ms. Claire Beckenstein, Mr. Coleman Ellen , Ms. Penny (Helena) Every, Ms. Lynn Lauzon-Russom, and Ms. Arden Rauch.
Special recognition was given to Mr. Robert Harrison and Mr. Richard Ratajak who were honored by New York State for their volunteer efforts.
Schenectady County Partners with Center for Excellence in Aging and Community Wellness to Present Managing Chronic Conditions Workshops NEW 12/21/12
Schenectady County has partnered with the Center for Excellence in Aging and Community Wellness to present “
Living Healthy NY Community Workshops,” six and eight week peer led programs that offers adults with chronic conditions and their caregivers the opportunity to manage symptoms, communicate more easily with physicians, spend less time in hospitals, and JUST FEEL BETTER!
The workshops will be given in Schenectady County. If you are interested in participating or would like more information, please register by calling
