Schenectady County Accepting Applications for 2014 Senior Citizen of the Year  NEW 3/2014 
Schenectady County hasannounced a call for nominations for the “2014 Senior Citizen of the Year” and “Senior Citizen with an Outstanding Contribution” awards. The Schenectady County Department of Senior and Long Term Care Services is asking for your help to celebrate the accomplishments of our older residents by submitting the name of a senior in our community who has either through professional accomplishments or volunteer efforts, offered their time and experience to worthwhile projects or causes.

Schenectady County Recognizes Older Residents Accomplishments
On Friday, May 17, 2013, Schenectady County held a special recognition event to celebrate the accomplishments of our older residents.  Nominees were recognized for generously giving his or her time and energy to organizations or projects that have enhanced the lives of others.
Senior Citizen of the Year for 2013: Mr. Stanley Gordon
Senior Citizen with an Outstanding Contribution for 2013: Mr. Richard McMahan
Lifetime Achievement Award for 2013: Mrs. Mary DeGeorgia
Senior of Year Group
Nominees included Ms. Claire Beckenstein, Mr. Coleman Ellen , Ms. Penny (Helena) Every, Ms. Lynn Lauzon-Russom, and Ms. Arden Rauch.

Special recognition was given to Mr. Robert Harrison and Mr. Richard Ratajak who were honored by New York State for their volunteer efforts.
