Faces of Schenectady, 1715-1750. Bill Buell interviews art historian Ona Curran, co-curator of the Schenectady County Historical Society's newest exhibit “Faces of Schenectady”. Six original portraits and seven high-quality prints (along with other period artifacts and textiles) bring Schenectady’s earliest residents to life. Curator Kathryn Weller and Guest Curator Ona Curran have assembled artifacts, representative of Schenectady during this era and those owned by subjects in the portraits, to help bring the world of 18th century Schenectady to visitors of today.
The Films of Larry Hart. In March 2010, Alan Hart showed historic films from The Larry Hart Local History Collection at the Schenectady County Historical Society. The films are rare footage of historic places in Schenectady including one of the last rides on the Schenectady trolley, Lindbergh’s famous visit to Schenectady airport, the dramatic fire at the First Reformed Church, and early color film of a bustling downtown in Schenectady. Much of the footage is home movies filmed by Alan Hart’s father, Larry Hart, and is black and white without sound.
